What is Moodsites?
Moodsites is a widget, or application, that you add to your site, be it a Facebook, Twitter, or MySpace page, a blog, or a fully-feature website. There isn't any complicated coding involved - just cut and paste one line of code and you're done.Does the widget have any special requirements?
The widget - the mood icon that you put on your webpage - doesn't have any special requirements. If you're able to post JavaScript, on your own website, for example, you can use the same widget you see on this site.If you can't post JavaScript, on Facebook, for instance, you can use the code we provide to place a simple image and link. This will work anywhere you can post an image, and will update in real time with your site's mood, just like the JavaScript version. The rating page, where the users cast their mood 'vote', does require JavaScript.
What does Moodsites track?
Every webmaster knows visitor satisfaction is crucial to a successful website. With Moodsites you can tap into the way your visitors feel. Instead of simple thumbs or stars, Moodsites provides your visitors with a fun way to tell you how they like your site.Since comments are also encouraged, you get more than a simple vote, but true insight into your visitors' feelings.
Do you have a demo?
Yep, just click the widget on the upper left of this site. How is the mood of my site determined?
Each 'vote' for a particular mood counts toward that mood, and toward other moods as well. For example, if someone rates your site's mood as 80% Love, a portion of that vote goes toward related moods, like Happiness. The six moods we feature include Happiness, Love, Randiness, Sadness, Anger and Bewilderment. The exact formula for averaging your site's current mood is our little secret, but you can view a breakdown of how many votes you have for each mood, and their average score. In other words, if two people rated your site Happy - one at 80% and one at 90% using the slider on the ratings panel - your average rating would be 85% Happy. If another person rated your site Bewildering (hey, it happens), you would see their vote, as well.
How many times can a person comment/vote on the website's mood?
There isn't a limit to comments, but you do have the ability to approve selected comments, delete others, or disable comments altogether ('Happy' and 'Joyful' accounts only).Users are allowed one mood vote per day. That way you can respond to users' votes and adjust your site accordingly, and the users can give new feedback.
How do you prevent vote fraud?
While there's no fool-proof way to prevent a malicious user from voting more than once, we use a variety of methods to help keep voting fraud to a minimum, including tracking the IP addresses of voters.I don't want people seeing the comments. Can I hide them?
Yes. In your control panel you can choose whether comments are public or private ('Happy' and 'Joyful' accounts only). Can I style my mood page on this site?
Yes, 'Happy' and 'Joyful' level members can pick a color and image for their mood page.Is Moodsites free?
Yes, for a basic account. Free accounts can have up to 25 votes, including comments. Our other two paid account levels allow for a much more generous rating allowance.More about account levels.
